SYNOPSIS:
This program focuses on the leader of World War ll’s “Band of Brothers.” A never before seen interview with the late Major Winters is utilized, as well as interviews with the “Band of Brothers” who are still alive. The film also touches on the relationship the Major had with those in Normandy post-WWII, including the family who has owned Brecourt Manor for centuries. Brecourt was the location of the famed assault (then) Lt. Winters led on D-Day to take out the four German 105mm guns firing on American troops landing on Utah Beach.
DICK WINTERS: HANG TOUGH, narrated by Emmy award winning actor Damian Lewis, is the seventh out of eight programs that chronicle overlooked stories of World War II in the European Theater. These programs are produced by the Emmy Award Winning TIM GRAY MEDIA, in cooperation with The WW II Foundation, The Smithsonian and Congressional archives and with the support of Public Broadcasting.
